AMC is the home to Hollywood classics old and new, such as “Rock All Night” and “Apollo 13,” plus hit shows like “The Walking Dead.” It's one of the best movie channels on cable, and also offers some of the best original series on cable. For AMC super-fans, AMC alone is a good enough reason to keep cable – or, at least, it would be if it were not so easy to watch AMC without cable.
The reality is that you just don't need cable to watch AMC. There are several great legal streaming services that will offer you an AMC live stream, plus the ability to record AMC shows and watch AMC shows on demand. On top of those livestreaming solutions, AMC has its own streaming service, AMC+. Here's how to watch AMC without cable.
How to Stream AMC Online Without Cable
It's possible to watch AMC without cable thanks to the rise of the live TV streaming services. The idea is pretty straightforward: live TV streaming services will give you a cable-like bundle of live TV channels, but they’ll let you stream those channels online on all kinds of devices. The bundles tend to be leaner (and cheaper, too), and there are no cable boxes or long-term contracts to worry about. The best ways to watch AMC without cable are Philo and Sling TV.
Services like this make up most of the list below. We’ll also discuss AMC+, which is an all-AMC streaming service that’s well worth considering if you’re an AMC fan.
Stream AMC With Philo
Free TrialPhilo is an affordable streaming service with a lot to offer. Among the channels that Philo offers is AMC. Thanks to a price tag that's much lower than the industry standard, Philo is one of the most affordable ways to watch AMC without cable. Philo’s big innovation is its channel lineup, which omits certain high-priced networks (like sports and news networks) in order to deliver fan favorites for less. You can also read more about Philo in our review.
Stream AMC with Sling TV
Start SlingingSling TV is designed to allow customers to pick and choose the networks for their streaming service. First, you'll choose between two base packages (or grab both). Then, you'll be able to tack on as many or as few of Sling TV's smaller add-on bundles as you'd like. These little bundles cost less than the big ones and include groups of channels lumped together by type (for example, you can add an extra full of sports channels – or skip it, and save money by ditching channels you don't need). That makes things very flexible for most TV fans, and AMC fans will be happy to see that their channel is included in easily accessible bundles. Foolproof! Check out our Sling TV review to learn more.
YouTube TV
YouTube TV is Google's skinny bundle service, and it's a very solid choice for folks who want to watch AMC without cable. YouTube TV serves up a nice selection of live-streaming network television channels that includes, of course, AMC. YouTube TV also has user-friendly apps and great content discovery features. AMC+
AMC+ used to be a traditional channel available exclusively to Xfinity subscribers, but now, anyone can subscribe to watch thousands of hours of AMC content. But AMC shows aren’t all viewers get: they’ll also get access to content from IFC, Shudder, and BBC America. There are no ads, either. AMC+ does not include a livestream of AMC, but it does include lots of brand-new on-demand content.
Can I Watch AMC on Roku, Fire TV, Apple TV, or Chromecast?
You can watch AMC on way more than just your TV. That’s the preferred choice of many, but there's no reason to limit yourself to just watching on a TV. Check out the chart below to find out your options for viewing AMC both at home and while you’re on the go.

More Channels You Might Enjoy Streaming
If you like AMC, we think you’d like some other channels as well. One good one is FX. Like AMC, it’s what was sometimes called a “basic cable” channel with solid original programming. But of course, you don’t need cable to watch either AMC or FX nowadays. Our guide to watching FX without cable has all the details.
TBS is also worth a look. It runs sitcom classics like “Friends” and “The Big Bang Theory.” Our personal favorite right now is the “Harry Potter Hogwarts Tournament of Houses” with Dame Helen Mirren. Learn more about TBS on our How to Watch TBS Without Cable guide to get started.
Both Roku and Amazon Fire TV have a Philo TV app. It’s great for cord cutters!
Added to the list!
By the way, YouTube TV now offers AMC.
We didn’t mention YouTube TV, yet, because of its limited availability. But we will in our next update. Thanks for pointing out!
Amc have blocked the walking dead now copyright.
Hello Mr. Ezell how much is You Tube a month?
You might want to remove PSVue from the list since the service will be shutting down at the beginning of the year and they will stop accepting new subscribers soon. I’m already searching for a replacement, wish Hulu carried it fully.
Thanks, Ivan! We’re working on updating our site right now. Meanwhile, you can check out some options here: https://cordcutting.com/services/best/#Best_for_Live_TV
can you stream past episodes of an AMC show (like lodge 49)?
Yes, you cant on Philo.
Paying for a bundle of cable or over the air channels from another company that’s not a cable company IS NOT CORD CUTTING IMO. You are still buying bundled services instead of picking one or more networks a la carte and only paying for them instead of being forced to take all or nothing from a cable company. Just because you may be saving a little money, you are ultimately still enabling schemes that keep AMC from offering a direct to non-cable or non-BUNDLED SERVICE consumer product.
Agree with Kilauea Grabke, if we are cord cutting we should not have to pay to watch AMC to finish watching our favorite “The Walking Dead”
Agreed!!
I have Philo, its $21 a month just so I can watch a few AMC shows, i think that’s a lot and it kind of sucks that AMC doesn’t put their shows on Netflix or Hulu like so many others, or have an app that is maybe cheaper! I only watch Walking Dead and NOS4A2 and soon, whenever it is released, Walking Dead world beyond. So $21 a month is a lot for a few shows, I’ve yet to find anything else I need or want on Philo, though the service works great, i just don’t like spending the money.
I have Netflix and Hulu already as we dumped cable, losing AMC was NOT an option, I love these shows!
It’s so irritating that AMC requires you to have a TV Plan at all (digital or otherwise). Why doesn’t AMC just cut out the middle-man and allow AMC Premium to work without another provider?
It seems that AMC May be available through Rocu or YouTube so I’m going to look there.
Being 75 and alone following the blogs for information is not so easy. Wish me luck !
Sorry but even with the Roku box you’re still going to have to have a TV provider.my wife and I are on the Roku right now attempting to do it.
You have to go to the Roku Channel app on your Roku to get subscribe to AMC through it without a tv provider. Only 8.99, free trial.
Well AMC still requires a tv provider going through Roku. I have Sling tv, and it is not on the AMC list of tv providers.
TDS will be cutting AMC on June 14 here in TN. They are already over priced. If I add Philo it’s gonna cost me $21 more brining me up to $140. I can’t get out of my contract with them until Nov so looks like I will be missing walking Dead.
I’d like to know when the amc+ will have an app directly for my TV. I have the app and can watch on my phone, but it’s annoying that I have to chromacast to my TV and can’t because I have no app.
12/2021… Download the AMC + app from roku and it will work without a cable provider.
