Sure, you want to cut cable – but what about HGTV? There's only so long some of us can go without watching someone pick out the tiny home of their dreams or renovate a fixer-upper in thirty minutes (not counting commercials). Unless you have a budget like most of the couples on “House Hunters” (how do they afford these places, especially when the wife is a freelance seashell collector?), you're probably interested in finding a cheaper way to get HGTV. Luckily for you, you've got lots of options for getting your hands on an HGTV livestream. Here's how to watch HGTV without cable.

Here are a few of our favorite ways to stream HGTV:

How to Watch HGTV Online Without Cable

It wasn't so long ago that cable and satellite companies had a monopoly on live network television. Thankfully, that's not the case anymore. These days, we have skinny bundles. Because they deliver content over the internet (and therefore don't need their own cable infrastructure), these services compete without regional monopolies. On top of that, these services can stream on all different devices: your computer, smartphone, tablet, and your streaming device (more on those later), to name a few. In other words, skinny bundles replace cable with a cheaper and more versatile path to live TV. Not a bad deal, right?

And, happily for HGTV fans, a lot of these skinny bundle services include HGTV. Let's look at your options. These are the skinny bundles that we trust to deliver an HGTV livestream for the right price.

Stream HGTV for free with Philo

Free Trial

Philo's claim to fame is its low price tag. It's significantly lower than the average price of its competitors, and Philo didn't have to ditch too many great channels to pull it off. For example, you'll still find HGTV in that super-affordable bundle — but you probably guessed that, seeing as we're talking about Philo in an article called “How to Watch HGTV Without Cable”! You can try out Philo for yourself by taking advantage of the service's free trial offer. If you want our opinion, take a look at our Philo review here.

Stream HGTV for free with Hulu

Hulu's live TV service is branded, creatively enough, as Hulu + Live TV. It includes HGTV. You can read our full review of Hulu + Live TV to learn more. Looking for more than just HGTV? Check out our complete Hulu + Live TV channel list.

Stream HGTV for free with FuboTV

After its 2017 relaunch, fuboTV steadily added new channels — including HGTV. These days, fuboTV is one of the very best live TV streaming services on the market. Feel free to read our review of fuboTV to see why.

Stream HGTV with Sling TV

Free Trial

The oldest skinny bundle remains one of the best. Sling TV works a little differently from the other skinny bundles on this list, because it uses a system of base packages and add-on bundles instead of a tiered set of options. Subscribers start with a base bundle or two and then add extra mini-bundles to that base. This makes Sling TV really easy to customize to suit your needs (more on this in the Sling TV review). With that said, you won't need to customize anything to get HGTV, because it's included in both of Sling TV's base packages. Easy!

YouTube TV

Google's version of the skinny bundle is quite solid. YouTube TV boasts a great app with broad platform support, lots of content discovery features, and an extensive channel lineup that includes — you guessed it — HGTV. You can test out YouTube TV by signing up for the service's free trial offer.

Discovery Plus

Discovery Plus is a new streaming service, and unlike the other entries on this list, it doesn’t have a traditional livestream of HGTV. However, we’re including it because it’s got thousands of hours of HGTV content, and all for as low as $4.99 if you pick the option with ads. If you don’t want ads, you’ll pay $6.99 a month. Both plans also come with a weeklong free trial so you can decide for yourself how good an option Discovery Plus is for watching HGTV without cable.

Can I Watch HGTV on Roku, Fire TV, Apple TV, or Chromecast?

Hey, great news: you can! Platform support is strong for anyone who wants to watch HGTV online without cable. You can watch it on your big screen at the house, or you can take HGTV with you when you’re outside the home. Just flip on your favorite device, and you’ll be watching people flip houses in no time. The chart below has more specifics, so take a look!

Discovery Plus, as mentioned above, is a new option that’s not on the chart. However, you can watch it on Roku, Fire TV, Apple TV, Android TV, Chromecast, iOS, Android, and your web browser.

PlayStation Vue got rid of Access Slim a few months before this article was published.

Add Canadian VMedia, Ontario base… provide ITV and the the farmost IPTV giant Bell Canada service called ALT TV…

  3. Clayton Erickson says:

When it comes to cord cutting for me, a highly important feature is a DVR and the ability to fast forward through commercials. I would love to see all stories about cord cutting to start mentioning this. I would never have a solution that forces me to sit through 5 minutes of commercials.

  4. Scott says:

We just buy the shows via iTunes so we can watch them whenever we want without those annoying commercials. It cost less in the long run than paying a fee for other shows we don’t watch.

If HGTV had an app like HBO Now where we could just pay a reasonable monthly fee without cable, we might be interested – provided there’s no pesky ads..

  5. Lefty says:

I can’t see how AppleTV+ is a model to choose when you add up the a la carte shows you want to watch each month. IPTV also runs the issue of buffering limitations…even with fibre connections. Cutting the cord is great…if you save money. If it’s less than $10/mo then look at what else you’re giving (PVR) up just to cut cable.
